Food From Our Heritage
You’ve probably noticed the horse and buggy on our jar label and wondered if we’re Amish or Mennonite.
The simple answer is yes, but there’s more to explain.
My ancestors were Amish while my husband Ernie’s ancestors were Mennonite. The Old Order Amish and Mennonites in many communities still maintain a very traditional lifestyle, including using horse and buggy as an important form of transportation.
While we now use cars and trucks to get from point A to point B, we’re still a part of a faith community here in North Texas with strong ties to our Amish and Mennonite roots.
One of our traditions is to offer a prayer of thanks before we eat a meal.
So the next time you’re sitting down with your family and you notice the horse and buggy on our jar, take a moment to thank God for the good things in life.

By including it on our jar, it's a way for us to honor our Mennonite culture and heritage and to share a little piece of our family traditions with you.
